BBC Evening News: 1981-1984

The BBC Evening News was given a new look on 7 September 1981, as part of a wide relaunch of all BBC News output.
A number of presenters chaired the bulletin during this period including Kenneth Kendall (who retired in 1981), Richard Baker (who retired in 1982), Richard Whitmore and Moira Stuart until October 1983 when it was replaced with Sixty Minutes.

The BBC Evening News name was brought back into use briefly in August 1984, when Sixty Minutes was axed in June and the Six O’Clock News started in September 1984.
